Mare and More

Discover Piceno Area

Mare and More apartments are the ideal base for visiting all the beauties of the Piceno.

The main feature of this beautiful area of the Marche region is that from the sea you can quickly reach both the rolling hills and the beautiful Sibillini mountains. Everything is within reach to allow you to experience a varied holiday, always full of surprises, history, culture and new landscapes every day.

Ascoli Piceno, the provincial capital, is a city rich in works of art and architecture. Halfway between the sea and the mountain, it contains numerous medieval and Renaissance masterpieces. The symbolic place of the city is the stupendous Piazza del Popolo, home to the Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo, which for centuries hosted the Podestà and the papal governors.

Do not miss the splendid piazza dell'Arringo, the oldest in Ascoli, a place that houses the most important city buildings: the Town Hall with the Civic Picture Gallery, the Bishop's Palace, the Cathedral of Sant'Emidio (patron of Ascoli), the octagonal Baptistery of San Giovanni, the Palazzo Panichi museum (seat of the State Archaeological Museum) and Palazzo Roverella (seat of the Diocesan Museum).

The beautiful hills of the Piceno are home to numerous villages of medieval origins, rich in churches, palaces and fortresses, absolutely worth visiting if you want to immerse yourself in an atmosphere of other times. Among the many we recommend: Acquaviva Picena with its fortress of 1300, among the largest and best preserved of the Marches;

Offida, famous for its traditional bobbin lace, with the beautiful Romanesque-Gothic church of Santa Maria della Rocca, built in 1330 in a panoramic position from which dominates the whole valley.

Ripatransone with the Cathedral of San Gregorio and Santa Margherita and the characteristic Narrowest Alley of Italy, absolutely to be crossed.

Heading towards the mountains, you will be fascinated by the Natural Parks area with the Sibillini Mountains and the Gran Sasso - Laga Park that will enchant you with their pristine landscapes, woods, caves and waterfalls.

In the area you will find many villages of historical interest that will welcome you with characteristic corners and typical restaurants: Amandola, Montefortino, Force, Montemonaco, Montegallo (Sibillini Park) Acquasanta Terme (Gran Sasso Park - Laga) with its natural spa famous for its iodosulphuric springs, and finally Arquata del Tronto, the only municipality in Europe whose territory falls under the influence of two natural parks: Monti Sibillini and Gran Sasso-Laga.
